How to Utilize Your Quarantine Time to Plan Your Wedding
Since the CDC has recommended self-isolation, you have likely been left with some extra time and energy on your hands. While you may be tempted to veg out on the couch and rewatch your favorite TV series, consider utilizing this time to check off wedding planning tasks. The following are some wedding to-do’s that you can work on during the quarantine period.
Research and More Research
You’ve been meaning to set aside time to start researching and now you have no choice. If you’re at the beginning of the wedding planning process this ideal, as you have an endless number of things to research. Scout potential vendors and venues, compare packages and prices, get some wedding inspiration and lock down a color palette or theme. If you really want to get into it, consider making a wedding inspiration board.
Virtual Wedding Dress Shopping
Shopping virtually for a wedding dress isn’t ideal but it is a great way to begin the process, particularly to narrow down your preferences and a style. In a store, the number of wedding dress options can be overwhelming. By starting with a virtual room, you can quickly and easily check boxes to add or remove elements that you are considering until you find a smaller range, to try on in person at a future date.
Tackle Any DIY Projects
While in quarantine, get a leg up on any decorations that you planned to DIY for your wedding or reception. You’ll be in a better place than most couples who rush to complete these projects the week before their wedding date. Some DIY items to consider may be: cake stands, wedding signage, ceremony and reception decor, and faux florals.
Shop Decor & Accessories
If you have decided on your wedding theme or palette, quarantine is a great time to go ahead and purchase decor. You can order your florals, anything needed to decorate the ceremony and reception space, table centerpieces, photo station backdrops and props, and so on. In addition, if you have purchased or ordered your dress, you can buy accessories. Find your veil, tiara or hairpiece, earrings, a necklace, any bracelets, and of course, your shoes. You can also purchase any of the items you plan to gift your bridesmaids.
Work on Your Registry
Adding items to your registry can be tedious, but it can be done from virtually anywhere. Wedding registries are dominantly online now, which means you can add items on your phone or a laptop. Consider sitting down together, discussing retailers you prefer, items you want and need, and getting the list started. From there, keep a mental note to add items as you think of them. This will make completing your wedding registry feel less like a chore.
Get Your Fitness On
Many couple’s use their wedding as inspiration to improve their health and eating habits. With so much time on your hands, start compiling a list of healthy meals that pique your interest. If possible, try them out and start meal prep. In terms of fitness, utilize this time to get out and moving, but follow CDC recommendations. Go for a hike, ride your bike, do a quick workout in the yard, maybe start practicing yoga. If you’re confined to your living quarters, learn a dance on Youtube, turn on some music while you clean and cook, or simply stretch each morning and evening.
