How to Get Your Groom Excited for Wedding Photos
Why do men hate being in photographs? We may never know the reason! What we do know, is that photographs are an integral part of weddings. As much as your fiance may dislike being in the photos, he won’t have a choice. To help him enjoy being front and center for the day, consider how you can make the negative aspect positive. Keep reading to learn how to get your groom on board with wedding photos, or at least more willing to cheese it up.
Get His Input
You may have a keen eye for planning, but your husband may have his own vision. Make sure you include him in the planning process, and incorporate his ideas. After all, your wedding photos are supposed to represent the both of you. Ask your fiance what he wants out of the photographs. For example, would he like them to be more light-hearted or prefer to stick to portraits? This is important for when you not only select a photographer, but so that he will know what to expect and prepare.
Feed His Ego
One reason many women are eager for wedding photos, is the excitement of being dressed up to the nines. With the right help, your fiance should be able to get excited for the exact same reason. Let him do what he needs to in order to feel confident, from a new haircut or shave, to regular gym sessions. Make sure he enjoys his wedding day attire, and that he has something to show off ‒ cue the silly socks! If he is excited about how he and his groomsmen look, they will all be more eager to please when it comes to being in photographs.
Give Him a Task
Decorations are one of the most anticipated elements of a wedding. Stress to your fiance the importance of how put-together the wedding decor looks, and give him a significant role in the creation or execution. Whether your fiance is a handyman or a perfectionist, you should be able to find one or a few areas that he can help with. For example, building a wedding arch, or another type of ceremony backdrop. The idea of his work being one of the focal points of the day, should fuel some excitement for taking pictures in front of it.
Let Him Lay Some Laws
As much as men may say or pretend otherwise, they can feel self-conscious too. They may not enjoy being in photographs if they are feeling less than happy about their present body, or other features. Set aside some time for him to speak to the photographer, during which he can lay down some rules or assist in a compromise. He and the photographer will have a much better understanding of one another, for a happier groom and better photographers.
